The 127 was in fact, an underrated little car with superb handling and reliable, peppy little engines.

Space usage was very good too, probably 10 years ahead of its time in 1971 when the car was introduced. Mk1`s are now rare but there were plenty of Mk2`s imported - the by then dated Mk3 only lasted for a year before being replaced by the Uno.
The mk2 is certainly the best looking although all versions are similarly styled and produced. All are pretty basic too.

In typical 70`s Fiat style the electrics probably won`t be too reliable and the brakes may seize on from time to time. The real killer though is rust and no panel gets any mercy.

These are potentially cheap classics though particularly if you can find a Sport or 1300GT - real fun if not claimed already by rust. Ultimately, if the car has no rust, buy it! For a restoration project you`ll be an expert welder by the end but there should be plenty about as this was a pretty popular car in its time.

One final thing - if you get a 1300GT that has rust, keep the engine - they are unique to that car and you`ll get people from far off lands wanting to buy it!
